29 going on...9

Well...little Elly wasn't the only one who enjoyed Christmas this year! Her daddy, aka Elmer Fudd, has been having quite a bit of post Christmas fun as well. He has been hinting around about wanting a BB/Pellet gun for quite some time now.I've always given him the famous line, "You'll shoot your eye out!" Now that we are a handgun owning, shotgun shooting household...I figure a BB gun is the least of my worries. So needless to say, Santa brought one to Kris this year. I was able to snap a few pictures of him in the backyard the other day. He came running in the house, "Where's my gun, where's my gun??!! We've got a squirrel!" Not to worry all you animal lovers out there, the BB bounced right off of it's furry little body :) I guess that's what you get when you buy the cheapest one out there!

Also on Kris's wish list was a remote control helicopter he just HAD to have. He missed out on it at the family gift exchange (thanks to his own mother-in-law who stole it!), so Mrs. Clause stuck that under the tree as well. At about 10pm the other night, I'm lying in bed and all of a sudden I hear a strange sound coming from the living room...Bzzzzzzzz zzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzz. What to my wondering ears would appear? A remote control helicopter of course! Buzzing all through the house. Seems as though I have brought out Kris's inner child :)

Please excuse the mess that we call a garage. Kris is the process of cleaning it out!

Maybe Kris should put some of this focus towards the garage project...

Watch out! He's coming for you!

Christmas 2009

What a crazy, fun filled, exhausting 24 hours! We woke up Christmas Eve morning to snow falling from the sky! Seeing that it was in the 70's the day before, this was quite exciting and unexpected. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would actually stick to the ground, and never EVER did I think it would cause quite the havoc that it did! We made out way out to Granbury, only to find that our usual 45 minute drive would take us 3 hours! It was madness out there on those icy Texas roads. Once we were safe and sound at the Berry household, we were able to take in the winter wonderland...and a much needed stiff drink! This was the first white Christmas Texas had seen since 1975. It was gorgeous!

We woke up Christmas morning to find that we all had been good boys and girls...Santa made a stop and left some goodies :) After our annual Christmas breakfast, we loaded up, said our goodbyes, and made our way south to good old Waco. Memmie was quite thrilled to see little Elly and loaded her up with MORE goodies! Can I re-do my Christmas letter?

Dear Santa,
We would REALLY like for you to bring us an extra 1,000 sq. ft for our house. We have been
a good mommy, daddy and baby girl.
Thanks,
The Roebucks

9 months!

Our sweet girl is 9 months old! Where, oh where, has the time gone? She is becoming more independent with each day and is starting to really show that personality of hers (which I do believe she gets from her Daddy)! I was always a very reserved kiddo who didn't want to stray too far from Mom. Well...not this kid! Like her father, she has never met a stranger and hams it up when someone glances in her direction. She is crawling all over the place and loves to "walk" when someone holds her hands. She loves the new view and will giggle and laugh while you help her on the move. We have also graduated to some finger foods. She loves to feed herself bananas, pears, cheerios and the newest of the foods, cheese! 3 short months and we will have one year under our belts...I have already started the party planning ;) I'm thinking invitations made by our favorite Heather Essian with a big ole' picture of the birthday girl! Daddy's on a need to know basis of course :)

Bad mommy award goes to...

Hayley Roebuck! I just noticed that my profile says that Elly was born March 19, 2009. Ummm...she was born the 16th! Ooops :) She was due the 19th...does that make it any better?
Elly is SOOOOO over her mommy right about now!

Dunzo with the Bumbo

I know that doesn't rhyme, but I'm too brain fried to think of something creative!

We sure have gotten every drop of money out of Elly's Bumbo chair. We would stick the tray on it and set her in the middle of the dining room table, which worked as the perfect makeshift highchair! In our tiny house, space is cherished and we definitely don't have room for one of those big ole' things! As I watched Elly perform her new talent, flinging her torso forward and backward to scoot the Bumbo across the table, I knew it was time to graduate to a "big girl" chair. She was quite intrigued and still can't get enough of it! Well...as long as it has food on the tray :-)

I'm a fan...now bring on the Cheerios and banana!

Oh how the Roebuck's...

...love the holidays! In UN-Roebuck fashion, we were quite on top of things this year. The Christmas tree and decorations were up by December 1st AND Kris actually decided to put lights on the house! To no avail, I have asked him to put them up the last two years. He would claim that I was trying to collect on his life insurance and that there was no way he would get up on that ladder! I guess the holiday spirit rubbed off on him. He made his way up to the hardware store and loaded up on all the goods (I had to put my foot down when it came to the blow up Santa). I must say, it is quite impressive! He was even semi-ok with our annual trip to Garden Ridge to pick out our 2009 ornaments. With all the holiday spirit flowing through our house, I tried to snap some pictures of Elly in front of the tree. Now that she has discovered her new freedom from crawling, it is even more difficult to get a good shot!

"Hey Dad! I know you keep telling me to look at the camera, but I can't take my eyes off YOU!"

Thinking about it...

Yep...I'm outta here!

Play with me Zoe!

Last week, the Roebuck household had a little visitor. No exaggeration on the "little" part...We were doggy sitting for sweet little, 3 lb. Zoe! Otherwise known as Sampson's girlfriend :) I was trying to get a video of Elly crawling and caught this instead...Zoe didn't know WHAT to think!

Biscuits and Bye, Bye's

What a weekend! I have learned to deal with the fact that every corner in our tiny house will always be filled with sweet Elly's STUFF! As she gets older, the more we accumulate, and the bigger it gets. We decided that it was time to make a little room for what is to come this holiday season. Elly already started her list to Santa...number one was an iPhone and number two was a walker! After seeing that, I knew it was time to move her swing up to the attic. After a near marital blow up, I managed to snag a picture of this monumental event. When I told Kris to wait while I got the camera, he didn't think I was serious. He had a few choice words when I told him to get his butt back up there, get the swing and SMILE. He later apologized and said those three little words I love so dearly to hear..."You were right" :)

Bye, bye swing!!!

In honor of mom being right AND Elly graduating from her swing, we decided to give the Biter Biscuits a try. The girl LOVES food and the biscuits were no exception. She was a little unsure when she first put it in her mouth. That quickly changed as it got a little messy! She would pull it out of her mouth, hold it up in the air and look at it with shear joy! I will have the video camera ready the next time :)

Doesn't she look like she's shaking with excitement?!

"Mom you GOTTA try this thing!!!!"

8 months...

...and they finally dropped me! Well...DAD is actually the culprit. That's right, Kris let Poor little Elly roll off the couch, not once, but twice! I guess it was bound to happen eventually. I'm just glad it was him and not me ;)
Yesterday we did Elly's little 8 month photo shoot. I can't believe how big she is getting. She has officially started to do the "army crawl" (which I love to watch!). She is intrigued with the sound of smacking her hands on the hardwoods, so she will scoot, scoot, scoot to get off the rug to the floors. Once she makes it there, she looks to me to join in on the fun and smack my hands too! We have also started the bedtime story routine. When we would read books before, all she wanted to do was put it in her mouth. She now will look at and touch the pictures and "help" me turn the pages. Don't get me wrong, she still tries to eat it, but seems to enjoy the looking and listening part just as much! I can't wait for next month and Ellyson's 9 month checkup! I'm dying to know how long she is and how much our little connoisseur of food weighs ;)

Cheeeeese! Pretty girl!

Of course we had to get a couple "yelling" pictures!

Flyin' high!

Last weekend Elly, Kris and I made the trek out Granbury to hang out with Nana and have one last dinner with our cousin Debi while she was in town. Deb came down for a quick weekend visit. We loved seeing her and Elly was quite excited to meet yet another cousin! We had a great time out in Granbury and had to put to use the new swing set Grandpa put up. All his blood, sweat and tears should be well worth it when he takes a look at sweet Elly's face as she was flyin' high!

Debi loving on little Elly. The neighbor's dog made it quite difficult to get the attention of little one :)

For some reason, whenever my mom emails pictures, they come out half the size...can you please get on that Nana. We need to see as much of Elly's face as possible!

Higher, higher!

Happy Halloween!

Happy day after Halloween! We had quite the day at the Roebuck household! Is there a better way to start a day, then to cheer on the mighty Horned Frogs? Elly made her first appearance at a TCU tailgate a few weeks ago, but we have been waiting for an early kickoff to actually take her into a game. 6:00 pm kickoff doesn't really mesh well with 6:30 bedtime. Well...the day this mommy was waiting for, finally arrived! TCU dominated UNLV yesterday afternoon! We only lasted the first quarter, but Elly made it to her first Horned Frog football game! She was more enamoured with all the fans (quite the people watcher...just like her mama!) than she was with the football, but she did tell me that she looks good in purple and that she can't wait to follow in her mom's footsteps...I guess we better start saving for that private school tuition!

We made it home for a quick nap, then got ready for the candy hungry, ghosts and goblins. We snagged a few pictures of the pink poodle, swapped it out for comfy Halloween pj's and enjoyed the night!

Rah, Rah TCU!

This is Elly's "but Nana...I REALLY want it!" face. Uh oh Nana...how will you resist it?!

It really is scary, how cute she is :)

What's the best part about the morning after Halloween? Chocolate for breakfast!
Well...it's actually banana and prunes. She doesn't know the difference...this year!

Caught red handed!

It's a little fuzzy, but I couldn't resist posting it! The look on her face was priceless..."Oh crap! she caught me!"

Pillow please!

I went in to get Elly from her morning nap the other day and this is what I found! She started out "longways" on the other end of the crib, barrel-rolled to the other side and made herself a nice little pillow out of the bumper pad. This has now become her favorite napping pastime! Well...that AND grabbing the little fairies by their little toes and giving them a good shake. I guess that means it is time for the mobile to go. She loves that thing so much, that I have been putting off taking it down. She will be sad to see it go, but mommy would be even sadder if she walked in to find the overpriced, Pottery Barn Kids mobile, snapped in half with dead fairies strewn around the crib ;)

I'm just chillin' in my crib

Hmmm...which one of you will go first? That new TOOTH I have will make it easier to rip you all apart!

**You read right...I found Elly's first tooth this morning (bottom left)! She has been a little stinker the past few days and we had a feeling that a tooth may be making an appearance :)

HARVEST Moon Festival

I stand corrected from my last post...It was the Harvest Moon Festival, not the Full Moon Festival, that we enjoyed last weekend with Nana! I actually don't have any pictures from the festival itself (oops!) but I do have some from the fun filled day. We started our day at my parents house, where my mom had an oldie but goodie "new" (gotta love the neighborhood garage sale!) toy for Ellyson! She was quite intrigued by the loops, climbs and falls of the oh so pretty beads. She looked at, studied and grabbed them, but inevitably she did all that she could to make sure they ended up in her mouth :) We made our way to the square in downtown Granbury, where we walked around the tents and of course bought a few teeny bows for our teeny girl. We then made our way to Hank's for a little lunch. I enjoyed a turkey sandwich, my mom enjoyed her BLT and Elly...enjoyed her toes AND her new found freedom in a restaurant highchair!!!! She looked at, studied and grabbed the straps, but inevitably she did all that she could to make sure she got her mouth on it...Eeeeewwwww! Oh the oral fixation of this girl!

Mmmmm...the orange ones taste like pumpkin pie!

Mmmm...my toes taste like chicken!

How do I best go about getting this in my mouth? I bet it tastes like the flu AND cold virus all rolled into one!
*time to break out the shopping cart cover from Auntie Caroline! This mommy is one HUGE germ-a-phobe!
